Message from the Charge d’Affaires of the United States of America to the United Arab Emirates
The UAE continues to be a critical partner for the United States of America. With $24.5 billion in trade in 2018, our bilateral U.S.-UAE trade and investment partnership is one of the pillars of our bilateral relationship. I want to express my gratitude to AmCham Abu Dhabi and its members for playing a crucial role in that relationship.
U.S.-UAE relationship has deepened and broadened in ways that would have been unexpected ten years ago. The UAE is consistently the top export market for U.S. products in the Middle East/North Africa region. In 2018, our trade surplus with the UAE was the fourth largest globally, second only to Israel in the region. American-Emirati cooperation occurs daily across all key sectors to include space, defense, healthcare, education, and tourism.
Throughout the year, AmCham Abu Dhabi has been an essential partner in supporting and deepening our relationships with our Emirati partners and creating a positive business environment for the American businesses. AmCham and the Embassy have worked together to support American participation at large trade events such as Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, Arab Health, International Defense Exhibition and Conference, and Discover America. Throughout the year, we work together to address issues facing U.S. industry, whether it be In-Country Value requirements, regulatory updates, or other challenges. The AmCham is an invaluable institution through which to create opportunities to build the people-to-people ties that unite our communities, educate our workforce, and strengthen business relationships. I am pleased that we have a partner like the AmCham, that we can count on day in and day out.
I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to working closely with AmCham Abu Dhabi to foster closer cooperation between our two countries.
