Message from the Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Arab Emirates

The U.A.E. has been an economic partner and strategic ally for America for over two decades. AmCham Abu Dhabi’s role in building this robust and growing relationship has been indispensable. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to AmCham and its members for their outstanding contributions to the expansion of the U.S. commercial presence in this dynamic market.

With over $25 billion in two-way trade, the U.A.E. is America’s largest export market in the Middle East for the seventh year running and our 16th largest worldwide. And, at $27.4 billion in total foreign stock investment, the U.A.E. is America’s 7th fastest growing source of foreign direct investment and the largest source from the Middle East. This trade and investment relationship creates high paying jobs, spurs economic growth, and stimulates diversification of both our countries.

As we look to broaden and deepen this mutually-beneficial relationship, the U.S. Mission U.A.E. has no better partner than AmCham Abu Dhabi.

Through our collaboration on countless trade missions and marquee trade events, together we have become an invaluable resource for U.S. companies looking to expand in the U.A.E. The insights of AmCham members have been critical as my staff and I have worked to advance the U.S.-U.A.E. bilateral relationship on a variety of fronts: namely, the first U.S.- U.A.E. Political-Military Commission last January; the memorandum of agreement on innovation and entrepreneurship signed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.A.E. Ministry of Economy last February; and the framework agreement signed by NASA and the U.A.E. Space Agency last June, to name a few.

Looking ahead, I have full confidence that AmCham Abu Dhabi will generate tangible results from these dialogues and agreements. I encourage you to forge new partnerships in areas like public health, education, and space exploration, as well as across a spectrum of cross-cutting industry trends including changing demographics, urbanization, safety and security, water consumption, energy diversification, and cybersecurity. Together, I know we can strengthen and deepen U.S.-U.A.E. partnerships.

I want to commend the members and supporters of the AmCham Abu Dhabi for helping to ensure that the U.S.- U.A.E. relationship remains robust and vibrant. I am confident that Americans and Emiratis will continue to reap the benefits of this strong partnership for decades to come.
