Serving on the board as a Member-at-Large for AmCham Abu Dhabi offers a unique opportunity to shape the impact of our mission and vision from within.  Having served on the board in various positions over the past decade, I know what it means to represent the broader membership and ensure that our actions align with the member’s interests.  As a volunteer, I understand the time and commitment it takes to actively participate and advocate for our common business interest.  When selected, AmCham Abu Dhabi will gain a humble servant who’s dedicated, focused and willing to open doors and continue paying it forward.

Candidate’s Bio

Sharief Fahmy is a Regional Executive Director, for Kaman Corporation, Engineering Products & Precision Products.  As a member of the senior staff, Mr. Fahmy is responsible for all of Kaman’s activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the great Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

With over 30 years of International Affairs experience and prior to joining Kaman, Mr. Fahmy served in numerous senior executive positions in the Middle East. Most recently, he served as a Strategic Advisor to the Minister of State for Defense, Chief Executive Officer to the Dubai Airshow, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Abu Dhabi, promoting commerce and investment between the USA, UAE and broader MENA region.

Retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, Sharief completed with honors a 23-year public service career, where he served in the U.S. Government at U.S. Air Force Base Level assignments, Joint Strategic Level tours at the Pentagon, the White House, Presidential Airlift “Air Force One,” U.S. Central Command, and lastly as a diplomat at the U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi.

Mr. Fahmy holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, and Graduate degrees in Public Administration and Human Resource Management.  He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Dubai Airshow and the Defense Security Marketing Council and is an active member at American Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi, a lifetime member of the Military Officer Association of America (MOAA) and the Society of White House Military Aides.
