Shada Elborno is a strategic and pragmatic leader with over 26 years’ experience in fueling business growth and delivering results. As Regional Head of Global Subsidiaries for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan (MENAP) at Standard Chartered, she is one of UAE’s most senior Emirati female bankers and wasrecognized for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Banking’ by the UAE Ministry of Labor as early as 2013. Most recently, she was listed in the House of Rose Professionals’ Break the ceiling touch the sky® as one of the Middle East’s Most Inspirational Women in Leadership 2022.
Shada is a passionate advocate of Diversity and Inclusion as well as Sustainable business practices.
As a thought leader, she frequently collaborates on stage with industry leaders and government heads at forums such as the UAE Gender Balance Council, DP World’s Trade Finance Roundtable and Siemens’ MEA Energy Week, among others, to explore and pioneer ‘future proof’ strategies.
Her inclusive and empowering approach distinguishes her ability to build powerful, diverse teams
and make change happen. Throughout her career, she has catalyzed pivotal roles like Chief of Staff
(Global Banking, MENAP), Head of Client Coverage Group (UAE) and Head of Financial Institutions
(UAE) towards greater innovation.
To support ongoing learning, Shada served on the Board of Directors for Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies for five years. She also holds a BSC. in Accounting and Finance from
the American College of Switzerland and a Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Finance from
The London Institute of Banking & Finance.
Shada is fluent in Arabic and English, highly proficient in French and enjoys a keen interest in fashion and art.
