Legal Strategies and Best Practices for Intellectual Property Protection in the U.S. and UAE

AmCham Abu Dhabi, through its Legal Affairs Committee, convened a webinar in partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and Carter, DeLuca & Farrell LLP, bringing together U.S. legal and policy expertise to examine intellectual property (IP) protection across the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
The session explored legal strategies and best practices for safeguarding intellectual property, with a focus on how robust IP frameworks can protect innovation, attract investment, enhance enterprise valuation, and support UAE startups and growth-stage companies as they expand into U.S. and global markets.
Opening remarks were delivered by Lina El Labban Lampkin, Chairwoman of AmCham Abu Dhabi. Keynote remarks followed from Tanya Cole, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the UAE, who highlighted the role of intellectual property in enabling cross-border trade and commercial growth.


Expert insights were provided by Rasha Hamdy Abdelmagid, Senior Intellectual Property Specialist (MENA) at the U.S. Department of Commerce. A legal-focused presentation followed from George Likourezos, Partner, and Amber Nicole Roibu, Associate, of Carter, DeLuca & Farrell LLP, addressing practical considerations for IP protection and enforcement.

Closing remarks were delivered by Shoaib Khaleeli, AmCham Abu Dhabi Board Secretary and Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee.
