Position: Communications Specialist
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Summary: The American Chamber of Commerce in Abu Dhabi is looking for a creative and proactive Communications Specialist who will help promote the AmCham stakeholders through strategic use of above-the-line and below-the-line digital marketing channels and multimedia. The Communications Specialist manages content creation, media relations, and strategic messaging across digital and print platforms. Key duties include producing newsletters, social media posts, press releases, and speeches, while supporting internal communications, crisis response, and ensuring brand consistency and stakeholder alignment. The role demands a high level of digital marketing agility and analytical approach.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation
- Oversees the monthly newsletter, writes and edits: articles, press releases, eblasts, social media captions, member/seasonal offers, member highlights and podcasts.
- Handles and maintains website content.
- Gathers the materials necessary to understand the project and competition in the area such as literature or previous campaigns; analyzes these materials to determine the most effective communications technique.
- Manage and oversee internal and external projects to develop filming scripts and output.
- Responsible for creation and distribution of engaging content for various channels, including website updates, social media posts, and email newsletters.
- Owning the production of various digital communications materials using basic graphic design tools or liaising with agency partners.
- Ensure consistent and complementary messaging across all AmCham Abu Dhabi programs and initiatives.
Publishing
- Use of technology to manage digital content such as social, CRM.
- Responsible for creation and distribution of annual report, whitepapers, edit and proofread policy papers.
Strategic Communication
- Based on assessment, drafts and propose communications campaigns, which may include website, social and online media, print media, direct mail, and other multimedia & digital channels.
- Supporting internal communication efforts to keep members informed including support to the Membership Development & Services Specialist to create the first line of membership management communications for potential members.
- Support the Executive Director in producing strategic communication plans.
- Crisis communication first point of contact for staff to support any crisis situation.
- Run test crisis management drills
- Support strategic communication of the Board of Director under the Executive Director’s supervision.
Media Relations
- Drafting and editing press releases, articles, and other communication materials.
- Monitoring media coverage and providing reports as needed.
- Approving all external communications developed by the team and obtaining the Executive Director’s final approval.
Spokesperson Mgmt.
- Draft speeches for senior management and assists with finalizing speeches.
- Supporting the development and execution of communication strategy and plans for upcoming events and initiatives.
- Speech writing for Board Members, Executive Director, VIPs and dignitaries
Governance
- Liaise with members and stakeholders to obtain official approvals on materials prior to external distribution and publishing.
Others
- Reporting as needed
- Develop and maintain SOPs/manuals and guides related to communications workstream.
- Agency management as assigned.
- Work with various Committees as requested.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual Arabic language is a plus.
- Exceptionally strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
- Full understanding of social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Hootsuite, WordPress, Mailchimp, GlueUp or related software.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet fast rush deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Economics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in communications or marketing is an advantage.
