Annual General Meeting 2025 – Back to Business Networking Reception

The American Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi (AmCham Abu Dhabi) gathered Their Excellencies, members, partners, and guests at the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi for its Annual General Meeting 2025 on September 12, a landmark event leading up to its 40th anniversary and reflected on achievements, shared insights, and looked ahead to the opportunities that lie before the US – UAE business community.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Chairwoman Lina Lampkin, who expressed her sincere gratitude to members, government representatives, board and committee leaders, and the many guests whose commitment continues to shape the Chamber’s work. She paid special tribute to the founding fathers of AmCham Abu Dhabi – Dr. Elias B. Sayah, President & CEO of Sayah Engineering MENA, Charles Laubach, Partner at Afridi & Angell, and Dr. Qaiser Anis, Managing Partner at Alliott Management Consulting UAE – recognising their vision and enduring contribution to the Chamber’s legacy. Chairwoman Lampkin also acknowledged the generous support of the sponsors, including PepsiCo, the Gold Sponsor and Platinum Member, as well as Bronze Sponsors Parsons, 3elm and Xler8AD, whose backing underscores the importance of collaboration in advancing AmCham Abu Dhabi’s mission.

A keynote speech by The Honorable Eric Gaudiosi, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi, followed, capturing the audience with reflections on the burgeoning U.S.–UAE partnership and the trade boost following the recent visit of former U.S. President Donald Trump. He spoke of the positive trajectory of bilateral ties, the resilience of commercial partnerships, and a promising outlook for foreign investment that will further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

One of the evening’s highlights was a Fireside Chat between Chairwoman Lina Lampkin and H.E. Abdullah Al Ameri, Director General of The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an. Their conversation shed light on the unique role Ma’an plays in Abu Dhabi’s social landscape and its ongoing efforts to foster innovation in community support. H.E. Al Ameri spoke passionately about Ma’an’s initiatives, particularly its plans to expand assistance for cancer treatment for individuals with lapsed or insufficient medical insurance, demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to improving lives across the emirate.

The AGM also provided members with an update on the Chamber’s financial performance. Mr. Zaheer Anis, Treasurer and Board Member, shared a comprehensive overview of AmCham Abu Dhabi’s finances. His report highlighted the Chamber’s financial stability and its focus on ensuring transparency and sustainability as it continues to grow its presence and expand its services.

The evening’s programme also featured an insightful Davos-style session headed by Ms. Tanya Cole, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs and Regional Senior Commercial Officer for the Gulf, U.S. Mission UAE from the Chamber’s Board Members and Committee Leaders, who joined the stage to share perspectives on the industries shaping the U.S.–UAE business corridor. Ms. Rula Dajani, Board Director and Head of Government Affairs, MENA at Citibank, reflected on the banking industry and how it continues to adapt to changing global dynamics. She was followed by Mr. Sharief Fahmy, Board Director and Regional Executive Director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia at Kaman Corporation, who spoke about the defence and aerospace sector and its integral role in supporting regional development. Mr. Jasem Al Nuaimi, Board Director and Senior Vice President – UAE Industries at Mubadala Investment Company, addressed the energy sector, with particular emphasis on sustainability and the nation’s journey towards a diversified energy future. Completing this panel, Mr. Na’am Jamshed, Co-Chair of the Healthcare & Lifesciences Committee and Founder & CEO of BridgeX Advisory, offered insights into healthcare and life sciences and highlighting the potential for innovation and stronger U.S.–UAE collaboration in this vital sector.

As the evening drew to a close, Mr. Samer Najm, Co-Chair of the Energy & Sustainability Committee, delivered closing remarks, reiterating AmCham Abu Dhabi’s role as a trusted platform for advocacy, knowledge exchange, and business development, and commending the ongoing efforts of members, leaders, and partners who make the Chamber’s work possible.

The formal proceedings concluded on a celebratory note with a raffle draw that brought excitement and cheer to the evening. Lucky attendees walked away with an array of prizes, from luxury staycations and spa treatments to gourmet dining and brunch experiences. Guests then had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and enjoy an elegant reception featuring refreshments and canapés, ensuring that the evening ended in the spirit of camaraderie and connection that defines the AmCham Abu Dhabi community.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting not only highlighted the Chamber’s achievements but also set the stage for the year ahead, underscoring its commitment to fostering economic growth, encouraging investment, and advancing social impact across the UAE.
